Whether you are a beginner or a hardcore fan, the site gives you everything you need to enjoy your hobby.
Finding and Tracking Shows
One of the best features of MyDramaList is the watchlist system. When you create a free account, you can keep track of everything you watch. You can put shows into different lists, such as watching, completed, on hold, and dropped. This makes it very easy to remember where you left off in a long story. You can also make a plan to watch list for shows you want to check out in the future. The site sends you updates when a new episode of an ongoing show comes out, so you never miss a moment.
Finding new shows is very simple using the search tools. You can look up titles by country, release year, or genre. If you want a romantic comedy from South Korea, you can filter your search to show only those results. You can also search for shows that feature your favorite actors or actresses. Every show has its own page with a detailed summary of the plot. This helps you decide if a show is right for you before you spend hours watching it.
Reviews and Ratings
Ratings are a huge part of the MyDramaList experience. After you finish a show, you can give it a score from one to ten. You can also write a long review to explain why you liked or disliked it. The site averages all the user scores to give every show an overall rating. This score helps other users find the highest quality shows. You can read reviews written by other fans to see different opinions. Some users write very funny reviews, while others write serious analyses of the story and characters.
The rating system breaks down into different categories. Users often rate the story, the acting, the music, and the replay value separately. This detailed feedback is very useful. For example, a show might have a weak story, but the acting and music might be amazing. The breakdown helps you know what to expect. You can also upvote reviews that you find helpful. This system pushes the best written and most honest reviews to the top of the page, so everyone can see them easily.
Community and Discussions
MyDramaList is much more than a database because of its active community. The site has a large forum where fans talk about many different topics. You can find threads about specific episodes, actor news, and general life topics. If you just finished a sad episode, you can go to the discussion board to talk about your feelings with other fans.
